DURHAM – Two Lewiston teenagers were injured in a single-car crash on Route 136 Thursday afternoon. The driver, Ahmed Mohamod, 18, was issued a court summons for violating the terms of his driver’s permit.
Mohamod and his passenger, Abdihafid Kassim, 19, were injured when Mohamod lost control of a 1995 Toyota four-door as he drove south toward Freeport at 3:49 p.m., Maine State Trooper Tyler Stevenson said.
The Toyota crossed the northbound lane, went off the left side of the road and struck a tree, Stevenson said. He attributed the cause of the crash to speed and driver inexperience.
Both men were taken to Central Mane Medical Center in Lewiston with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Toyota was demolished.
