BANGOR (AP) – Republican Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine have been floated as potential picks for cabinet-level positions in President-elect Barack Obama’s administration. But both say they’re content to remain in the Senate.

Both made the Wall Street Journal’s list of people who may be under consideration for cabinet posts. Snowe’s name came up as a potential secretary of commerce, while Collins was cited as a potential leader of the Department of Homeland Security.

Departing Democratic congressman Tom Allen is another potential pick after losing in his Senate race to Collins. Carol Andrews, his spokeswoman, says he’s “considering all of his options” right now. She says Allen would “lend a lot in terms of health care and the environment.”
