SPRING LAKE, N.C – Burton and Marion Griffeth of Spring Lake, N.C., formerly of Bethel, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently at a family gathering. Hosts were children of the couple, Vicki Crowell, Matt Griffeth, Nancy Decoteau and Penny Brown.

White roses with gold accents decorated the tables, as well as the four white frosted pound cakes. The tables were decorated with gold ribbon down the length of the table on top of the white linen tablecloths and also featured golf balls, pine cones, golf pencils and memory cards their children wrote, as well as blank cards for new memories.

Numerous pictures were on display, as well as a presentation of PowerPoint slides. Each child spoke on how they admired their parents. The couple received two Cracker Barrel rocking chairs for their deck. Toastmaster was Jack Cronin.

Mr. Griffeth and the former Marion Hubert were married Oct. 18, 1958, at the First Congregational Church in Scarborough. In addition to their children, their grandchildren are Kimberly Lewis, Maddie Decoteau, Katelyn Crowell, Dustin Brown, Mason Brown, Garret Brown, Colleen Crowell, Matt Griffeth, Jennifer Griffeth, Valerie Griffeth, Marc Decoteau and Andrew Decoteau.

Mr. Griffeth was employed at Canadian National Railway in South Paris and was pastor of the Pleasant Valley Bible Church in Bethel. He currently attends New Hope Baptist Church in Spring Lake, N.C.

Mrs. Griffeth was employed at Tambrands in Auburn and currently attends New Hope Baptist Church in Spring Lake, N.C.
