NEW GLOUCESTER – The wedding of Katherine Elizabeth Heldman and Alexander Jay Kaufmann was held at 3:30 p.m. on May 24 in the orchard at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester. The Rev. Daryl Lavway from Central Square Baptist Church in Portland, officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Kaufmann is the daughter of Sandy and Kristen Heldman of Auburn. Mr. Kaufmann is the son of Morris Kaufmann of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Linda Rose of Union.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of slipper satin with lace overlay bodice, appliqué inserts and pearls on the skirt and bodice and a Cathedral length train. She carried a bouquet of white and purple roses and purple, lilac and pale green hydrangea.
Hillary Hough played the wedding march on the bagpipes.
Attendants for the bride were Elizabeth Allen, her cousin, and Meghan McNalley, long-time friend. Junior bridesmaid was Nicolle Godbout, cousin of the bride, and Megan Godbout, another cousin, was flower girl.
Morris Kaufmann served as best man for his son. Ushers were James Turner, grandfather of the bride, and Steven Kelley, cousin of the bride. Groomsman was Alexander “Bump” Heldman, brother of the bride, and junior groomsman was Shawn Andrews, cousin of the bridegroom. Lars Andrews, cousin of the bridegroom, was ring bearer.
A cocktail garden reception followed, with the wedding reception at the Mt. Washington Room at Pineland Farm. The couple is currently residing in Killeen, Texas.
The bride is a graduate of Poland Regional high School and the University of Southern Maine. She is currently a licensed social worker for the Department of Family and Protective Services in Killeen, Texas.
The bridegroom attended Medomak Valley High School and Southern Maine Community College, prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army. He is currently a specialist in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas.
