LEWISTON – Lewiston Department of Recreation has crowned its fall champions:
Pone Vatasso was champion of the men’s ‘A’ division, with Andy Marsh runner-up.
Lisa Laliberte topped the women’s ‘A’ field, followed by Christiane Villedrouin.
In men’s ‘B,’ Reynold Villedrouin was the champion. Bob Thornton was second.
Tracey Blaisdell was women’s ‘B’ champ with Lisa Lally runner-up.
Brett Vallee is men’s ‘C’ champion with Paul Carbonneau earning runner-up.
Lorraine Bowen was crowned queen of women’s ‘C,’ with Candy Gleason getting the second-place trophy.
Laliberte, Reynold Villedrouin, Blaisdell, Vallee,and Bowen all went undefeated. It was one of the most competitive tennis league in as many years.
Special recognition goes to Venise Wilding for being the most improved tennis player for women, and Mark Turcotte for men.
Recognition also goes to Paul Carbonneau for his many years of contributions and inspiration to tennis players, both young and old.
