Seniors dinner

AUBURN – First Auburn Seniors President Pat Records presided at the Nov. 5 meeting at the Hasty Community Center. Three new members were welcomed: Cecile Burgoyne, Beverly Lee and Brian Adams.

Prize winners were Pat Edwards, Joyce Poole, Beverly Lashua, Shirley Huntley and Helen McGuire. Four birthday prizes were awarded.

On Wednesday, Nov. 19, members will have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the Green Ladle. The restaurant is affiliated with the Lewiston Regional Technical Center of Culinary Arts.

The doors will open at 11 a.m. There will be special pot of gold drawings, and Ron Niggle will provide a musical program.

OES program

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Ancient York Masonic Hall, Route 196.

Members will honor chaplains, marshals and organists. Bernard Frost, grand chaplain, Nylene Page, grand marshal, and Richard Farnsworth III, grand organist, have been invited to attend. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All members of the order are invited.

Distribution day

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve, part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will have distribution day from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, 263 Turner St., at the Whitney Street entrance.

Office closed

SABATTUS – The Sabattus Town Office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27 and 28, for Thanksgiving.

Scout breakfast

LISBON FALLS – Boy Scout Troop 109 is sponsoring a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at Applebee’s.

Applebee’s will do all the cooking and the boys will do the serving. Tickets are $5 each and walk-ins are welcome also. It is a fundraiser for the troop trip to Washington, D.C., next spring.

Tree lighting

NEW GLOUCESTER – The annual New Gloucester Christmas Tree Lighting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at the Town Hall, Route 231.

Highlights will include a program by the Gray-New Gloucester High School Chorus, a sing-along, the lighting of Tiny Timber and a library open house with refreshments. Those attending are asked to bring canned or boxed food items for donation to the New Gloucester Food Pantry.

Free classes

LEWISTON – A free four-week class, “Moving Through Fear,” will be offered from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22 at USM/UMA Lewiston Auburn College. Preregistration is required.
