BELFAST (AP) – A 55-year-old Searsport man who was arrested during a school hostage scare last month in Stockton Springs has been indicted in connection with a gun-related incident the week before.

The Waldo County grand jury indicted Randall Hofland on a charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon for allegedly pointing a handgun at a Searsport police officer during an Oct. 23 traffic stop.

Police say Hofland fled the scene, only to be arrested Oct. 31 after he held 11 fifth-graders hostage. He is being held at Waldo County Jail on $1 million bail on nine counts of kidnapping and four counts of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon related to the school incident.

Evidence from that case is expected to be presented to a grand jury early next year.
