Dear Sun Spots: Thank you so much for the service your provide. If I read nothing else every day I read your column. You have helped so many people, myself included. I am in hopes you can help again. I have two questions. We are heading south in December and hoping you can help. 1: Wal-Mart in Auburn has a gas station with some of the best prices, is there any way to find out where else on the East Coast they have this service? 2: Bread stores. The Freihofer’s bread store has an outlet in Lewiston. Is there any way to find out where on the East Coast they have outlets? Thank you so much in advance for all your help. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: There are two simple ways to find Wal-Mart gas stations in the areas you’ll be traveling. First, you can call 1-800-WAL-MART (1-800-925-6278) from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday or from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. (Note these are central times.) Press 1 for the store locator, then press 4 to locate the nearest Wal-Mart gas station. From there, you have the option of finding one based on a Zip code.

If you have Internet access during your travels, visit www.walmart.com and click on the store finder. Use the Zip code to find the stores closest to you, and click on store details to see if there is a gas station.

The same can be done to find a Freihofer thrift store. Call the consumer hotline at 1-800-984-0989, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and someone will be happy to assist you. Or, visit http://freihofers.gwbakeries.com and click on “outlet locator.” Enter the Zip code and you can find outlet stores up to 25 miles from where you are located.

Dear Sun Spots: I have several gift certificates from Heartland Restaurant. I went there this week only to discover they are closed down. Could you please tell me where I might go or whom to contact in order to redeem these. Thanks. – Cheryl, Auburn.

Answer:
Unfortunately, Sun Spots has no new information about Heartland at this time. We have attempted to contact the owners to no avail and will report any updated information we receive.

Dear Sun Spots: You do a great service for so many people. However, it amazes me the number of people asking for something and do not leave any way for anyone to get in touch. In Nov. 10 Sun Spots, someone asked for pinking shears and fabric. I have both but I cannot give them to “No Name, No Town!” – No Name, No Town.

Answer: Some of our Sun Spots readers prefer not to have their contact information published in the column. In that case, people can reach them through the Sun Spots column. We hope the person requesting these items is reading the column today.
