BIDDEFORD (AP) – Police in Biddeford say they’ve arrested a suspect in an armed robbery at the TD Banknorth branch on Elm Street.

The incident took place Monday afternoon when the robber entered the freestanding bank near a Hannaford supermarket, demanded money, then fled on foot.

The suspect is identified as 34-year-old Charles Reed, a transient. He was arrested at the Hampton Inn in Saco by Biddeford police and the U.S. Marshal’s office.

Police say Reed is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday in Biddeford District Court.
