Twin Cities’ dog owners may register their pets online this year, with a state Department of Agriculture Web site.

Dog licenses expire on Dec. 31 each year, and the pets must be registered with the city by Jan. 31. Owners pay fines if their pets remain unlicensed after that.

Owners can register their animals in person by going to their city hall offices.

License are $11 per dog, or $6 if the dog is spayed or neutered. Owners need to bring the dog’s rabies certificate and spay/neuter certificate to register.

Online registrations are available at www10.informe.com/dog_license, cost $1 more and must be paid with a credit or debit card. Owners also need to have the pet’s license number, spay/neuter certificate number and their veterinarian’s name and phone number.

Dog tags will be mailed within the next few days.
