One of my closest friends and fellow classmates, Amanda Gibson, has recently won student of the month for October for Union 29. She went to a lunch with our principal, Mrs. Martin, the superintendant, and the Optimist Club. After lunch, she was honored with a certificate and signed paper with compliments from different teachers.

I asked Amanda how she felt about getting this award and she replied, “I felt honored and pleased to see my hard work had paid off.”

Amanda was the only student at the event along with other principals and teachers from Minot, Poland, and Mechanic Falls. The meeting lasted about one hour, just enough time for Amanda to get the recognition that she deserved.

Amanda’s mother and grandmother went with her to this event as well. Amanda also said, “I think that it is a wonderful thing to achieve and I would push all of my peers and friends to work toward this goal. It is nothing hard, just a lot of effort and dedication.”

Thank you Amanda and congratulations!!!
