DIXFIELD – The following incidents were handled recently by the Dixfield Police Department.

Accidents

• A 1994 Buick sedan driven by Ian Canwell, no age available, of Mexico, struck and killed a small doe at 7:17 p.m., Nov. 16 on the Canton Point Road. The vehicle sustained $1,000 damage.

• A vehicle driven by Ronald Richards, 42, of Jay, struck and injured a deer at 2:59 a.m., Nov. 15, on the Canton Point Road. The vehicle, make unknown, was not damaged.

Vandalism

• The seats on a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle were slashed sometime before 7:45 p.m., Nov. 17, at the Rover Campground off Severy Hill. Damage was valued at $500. Officer Charles Beale said vandalism and theft at the campground has been an ongoing problem.

• Someone egged the home of a Webb River Drive resident between midnight on Nov. 18 and 7 a.m. Nov. 19.

Theft

• A High Street resident reported the theft of a portable carport from the owner’s yard at 9:36 a.m., Nov. 21. The carport, which was still in the carton, was valued at $500.

Attempted burglary

• Someone tried to break into the former Dixfield Elementary School through a back door sometime between Nov. 11 and 12. The incident was reported Nov. 17. The former school, on Nash Street, now serves as the SAD 21 central office.
