CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – The holiday season in New Hampshire’s capital will brighten up a bit with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony outside the Statehouse on Friday.

The switch will be flipped at 6 p.m. in front of the Statehouse Plaza. Preliminaries begin at 4 p.m. and include horse-drawn carriage rides, a petting zoo and a visit from Santa Claus. An armed forces commemoration takes place at 4:30 p.m., followed by a blessing of the manger.

The event also will include the lighting of a menorah.
