LEWISTON – The trio Ameranouche will perform a gypsy jazz concert at The Maple Room at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5.

Ameranouche is a virtuosic, nationally touring, all-acoustic trio that plays music in the spirit of Django Reinhardt. According to its Web site, the band “plays acoustic hot jazz, both original compositions and unique arrangements by American and Gypsy songwriters. The music is universal and reaches diverse audiences worldwide.”

Making up the trio are guitarists Richard Sheppard and Ryan Flaherty and bassist Xar Adelberg. They played at this year’s JVC Newport Jazz Festival in August and have three tunes on a recent National Lampoon Soundtrack.

Admission to the concert is $20. The Maple Room is at 22 Park St. A gypsy jazz workshop for guitarists, bassists and other musicians of all levels will be held at 3:30 p.m. For more on the workshop or other information, visit www.ameranouche.com or www.themapleroom.info; or call 784-7127.
