LEWISTON – A Lincoln Street burrito bistro owner said he’s close to finding a new home for his restaurant.

Jon Patrick Levasseur, owner of Patrick’s Burrito Bistro and Deli, said he doesn’t plan to miss a beat, either. He hopes to be in a new location within two months and will stay open at his current location in the meantime.

“I’ll move over a weekend coming up, closing on Friday here and opening someplace else the next Monday,” he said. “If all things go according to plan, that’s what I want to happen.”

The city purchased the four-story building at 87 Lincoln St. last month. It houses his restaurant and a number of apartments. City officials plan to demolish it.

The building had been put up for auction after being taken in a foreclosure. The city bid $115,000, and set aside another $14,000 to relocate the building’s occupants, including the restaurant.

Levasseur said he is working with business counselors from the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments to find a new place. He originally feared he’d have to shut his restaurant down for awhile.

“But the city is not rushing me out, which has been really nice,” he said. “They’re giving me a chance to get some things set up and that’s making a big difference.”

He opened the deli in 2006, specializing in Mexican entrees, deli sandwiches and desserts.

“I’m staying downtown, maybe not on Lincoln Street, but close,” Levasseur said. “I think it’s really important for me to try and keep things going so I don’t lose my base of customers.”
