Auburn – Raymond L. Theriault, 85, of 84 Wood St., Lewiston, died Friday, Dec. 5, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, after a long illness with his family at his side.

He was born in Lewiston on Dec. 8, 1922, a son of the late Nazaire and Yvonne (Bernard) Theriault. He graduated from Lewiston High School in the class of 1942, after attending Victoriaville Commercial College, Victoriaville P.Q., Canada. After graduation, Raymond served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a radar operator. He was married to the love of his life, Carmen (Bernier) Theriault, for over 55 years. She predeceased him in 2006. Ray was part-owner and helped run the family business, Lewiston Crushed Stone, however prior to this he was a Lewiston firefighter. In later years he became a Lewiston Fire Comissioner and also served on the Lewiston Development Corp., and was a licensed Maine real estate broker. He was a lifelong member of of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and was a fourth degree in the Knights of Columbus 106.

He enjoyed reading, and working around his properties. His greatest enjoyment was his grandson to whom he passed on by example a strong work ethic.

He leaves two sons, Denis L. Theriault and his wife, Lena, of Lewiston and Marc R. Theriault and his significant other, Lisa Davis, of Sabattus; a grandson, Matthew Raymond Theriault of Lewiston; a sister, Marguerite Landry of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Adrien, Roland and Gerard; a sister, Jeanne Theriault; and an infant son, Dennis.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Kappelman and his staff for the wonderful care they provided over the years. Also special thanks to all the caregivers over the years.
