Respect is a very important thing. Without respect, life just wouldn’t be the same. Almost everyone shows some sort of respect every day without even knowing it; it could be either helping someone out with all their books, or opening a door for someone. Every nice thing you do for someone else will make a difference.
Being respectful means treating other people the way you want to be treated, even if you’re not these persons’ biggest fan. Everyone has feelings, so it isn’t right if you treat people with no respect thinking you’ll get some in return. Here is the dictionary definition of respect:
Respect (ri-`spekt): Expressions of regard or courtesy. Now you know what respect is, so let’s move on to how to show respect in the classroom.
To show respect in the classroom,; always listen to the teacher. Never speak out of turn and always raise your hand. These are all ways to show respect to your teacher and all the people around you. Never fidget around in your chair or make disturbing noises. This will distract the people around you. It can also get you into a lot of trouble. Also, help the teacher out, pass out some papers, if there is a sub, help them figure out the lesson plan or help them with the kids’ names.
One way I show respect in the classroom is I raise my hand to speak. I’m polite and get my assignments in on time. I don’t fidget and rarely speak out of turn. I listen to directions. I think that I show good respect in the classroom and will keep working on it to get better at being respectful.
Showing respect is more than just saying please and thank you. It is also physically doing nice things and following the rules; also, to not destroy other people’s property. I hope everyone knows that being respectful is an important part of everyday life. Everyone should work together and try to make the world a more respectful place to live, and everyone contributes.
