RUMFORD – Black Mountain of Maine has numerous race and lesson programs designed for all types of winter sport enthusiasts. People can sign up at the mountain or at www.skiblackmountain.org.
Race camp is a two-day morning camp designed to get participants ready for the upcoming race season. Cost is $25 for season passholders and $45 for nonpassholders. Race camp will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 29 and 30.
Black Mountain’s race program will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Sundays, Jan. 4 through March 8. Coaching will be available for those wishing to participate in the Maine Ski Challenge at 1 p.m.
The program is intended for advanced skiers wanting to learn to race or to perfect their racing skills. Cost is $150 for passholders and $250 for nonpassholders. The cost includes a day ticket.
Alpine Snow Kids will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sundays, Jan. 11 through March 1. The program is intended for kids ages 6 to 12 who are learning to ski, as well as those wanting to improve their skills with the ultimate goal of descending from the summit chair. Cost is $100 for passholders; $150 nonpassholders.
Kinder Club will run from Sundays, Jan.11 through Feb. 15. The club offers a one-hour, private one-on-one lesson for children ages 3 to 5. Cost is $150.
Black Snow Riders will learn snowboarding from the professionals. For the third year in a row, Black Mountain has teamed up with UMF Ski Industries to offer one-hour snowboard lessons for riders of all ages.
The program is designed for adults and children of any ability. Beginners and those who wish to improve their riding skills are welcome.
The program will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Feb. 6 and 13, March 6, 13 and 20. Cost is $25 a session, not including lift ticket.
