Vehicle damaged

On Dec. 15, a Knox Street resident reported criminal mischief to the side of her vehicle sometime in the last four days. It appeared as though someone had taken a key and damaged the paint on the side.

A total of $200 damage occurred. The resident didn’t know exactly where or when the damage had taken place.

Rumford Sgt. Tracey Higley is investigating. There are no suspects at this time.

Accident on York Street

The Rumford Police responded to the Chisholm School on York Street at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 15 to a report of a two-vehicle accident.

Jennifer Averill, 27, of Dixfield, was attempting to back up on the street when she backed her 2001 Dodge Ram pickup into a vehicle behind her, a 2001 Subaru Legacy station wagon owned by Kelly Prevost, 27, of Rumford. Averill immediately stopped, got out, and informed the other vehicle owner of what had occurred before police were called.

No injuries were reported. There was an estimated $1,000 damage to the Subaru.

Rumford officer Dustin Arsenault responded.

Telephone harassment

An e-mail was sent to the Rumford Police Department Web site on Wednesday by a South Berwick man, who complained that a Rumford resident was calling him and accusing him of supplying his girlfriend with marijuana.

The South Berwick man requested a restraining order and asked what action the Rumford Police would advise.

Rumford Cpl. Doug Maifeld warned the Rumford suspect to cease the threatening phone calls.
