LEWISTON – Tin (Justin) Barton-Caplin has joined Healthy Androscoggin as its new executive director.

Jim Handy, chairman of the Healthy Androscoggin Board of Directors, said Barton-Caplin comes to Healthy Androscoggin at the perfect time.

“Tin brings the experience and skills necessary to lead on public health issues for Androscoggin County as local public health committees are being formed,” Handy said.

A Portland native, Barton-Caplin most recently worked in Vermont as the deputy director of Northeast Kingdom Community Action. Prior to that, he worked for the Vermont Department of Health in HIV/AIDS Prevention and Emergency Preparedness Planning as well as community-based organizations. He holds a master’s degree in public health from Dartmouth Medical School and is working on a master’s in health care administration.

“I am looking forward to continuing and enhancing the amazing work of the Healthy Androscoggin team around the issues of physical activity, nutrition, tobacco and substance abuse prevention,” Barton-Caplin said.

Healthy Androscoggin is dedicated to improving the health of all Androscoggin County citizens through collaborative planning, community action, education and prevention. Resources and more information can be found at www.healthyandroscoggin.org.
