WATERVILLE (AP) – Waterville’s police chief says officers had to deal with a pair of “very ugly” pit bulls during a drug raid at a house in the city’s South End.
Chief Joseph Massey said an officer sprayed Mace at one of the dogs to get it under control during the Wednesday night raid at the home of 25-year-old Harry Reed.
It was the second time this month that Reed found himself in hot water with the law. On Dec. 9 he was summonsed for keeping dangerous and unlicensed dogs after his pit bulls allegedly attacked a neighbor’s dog.
Police say this week’s raid by state and local drug agents turned up cocaine, hashish, marijuana, cash and weapons. Reed faces a number of charges, including aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs.
