MONTREAL – Tuomo Ruutu scored 1:43 into overtime to give the Carolina Hurricanes a 3-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday night.

Sergei Samsonov and Eric Staal each had a goal and an assist, and Cam Ward made 26 saves to help Carolina improve to 4-1-3 in its last eight games.

Robert Lang drew Montreal even at 2 with his team-leading 11th goal on a power play 13:08 into the third. Matt D’Agostini also scored for the Canadiens.

Montreal ended a stretch of 10 of 11 at home, including a 4-3 overtime win over Buffalo on Saturday night.
