NORWAY – The Pennacook Writers Workshop will begin a 10-week session, meeting from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays starting Jan. 21, at Books ‘n’ Things, 430 Main St.

In 2005 and 2006, the Pennacook Writers Workshop took place in Rumford.

“I’m hoping to draw writers from a larger area,” said Rebecca Welsh, founder and leader of the workshop. “I know there are a lot of writers in Western Maine, and I hope Norway will appeal to them as a central location.”

Welsh holds a masters of fine arts in creative writing from USM’s Stonecoast MFA program. She is an affiliate of Amherst Writers and Artists and has been leading workshops since 2005.

In addition to the workshop, she also leads the Willow Brook Farm Writing Series in Boothbay during the summer.

The workshop is based on the Amherst Writers and Artists method developed by Pat Schneider. Participants are encouraged to respond to the writing.

The workshop is limited to eight writers, and the cost is $175. Writers interested in signing up for the workshop should contact Welsh at [email protected].
