AUBURN – Both Auburn-Lewiston YMCA fifth- and sixth-grade travel basketball teams won in thrilling fashion over the weekend.

The boys battled back to defeat Gardiner in overtime, 49-44, and improve their record to 4-0. Llewellyn Jensen led the way for the ‘Y’ with 21 points, followed by Ian Mileikis with 15.

CJ Jipson and Luke Sterling both pitched in four points apiece. Bryce Gibson added three points, and Drew Lashua rounded out the scoring with two. The Y’s next contest is against Messalonskee.

‘Y’ girls scored with seven seconds remaining Saturday to turn back Gardiner No. 2, 26-25. ‘Y’ notched its fourth straight victory in the process. Tianna Harriman led Auburn with 12 points.

Brooke Reynolds added 10 and Makayla Norcross four. Savannah Vinton-Mullens topped Gardiner with 10.
