AUGUSTA – Kennebec Land Trust conservation properties with plowed winter access are available for snowshoe or cross country ski exploration.

Properties with winter access owned by the Kennebec Land Trust are Curtis Homestead Conservation Area, Leeds; Davidson Nature Preserve and Vassalboro Wildlife Habitat, Vassalboro; Jamies Pond, Hallowell and Manchester; and Echo Lake Watershed Preserve, Readfield.

Conservation easements with plowed winter access (KLT holds the developments rights, but the property is under separate ownership) are Mt. Pisgah Community Conservation Area, Winthrop, and Torsey Pond Nature Preserve, Readfield.

During the snowy winter months (approximately Dec. 15 to March 15) there is no public motorized vehicle access to the trust’s Parker Pond Headland property via the Fellows Cove Road. The public can continue to access the headland trailhead by hiking in from the Sandy River Road, or across Parker Pond when it is frozen.

Check KLT’s Web site for directions to properties with plowed access, and trails that are suitable for all ages at www.tklt.org. For more information, call 377-2848.
