VINALHAVEN (AP) – The federal product-safety agency says it’s launching an investigation following the death of a 2-year-old boy in a portable crib last weekend on Vinalhaven.
Noah Thompson was strangled Saturday by a mesh covering that was placed over his portable crib. His parents, Marc Thompson and Lisa Rosen of Harvard, Mass., told Maine State Police that they placed the netting over the crib Friday night to keep the child from climbing out.
A Consumer Product Safety Commission spokesman says the agency immediately launched an investigation. Scott Wolfson says there have been complaints and recalls involving mesh-sided portable cribs similar to the one used on Vinalhaven.
