SABATTUS – Robert and Pauline Levesque of Sabattus recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Elks Lodge in Lewiston. Party hosts were children and grandchildren of the couple.
Hand-made swan centerpieces with flowers and candles, made by Pauline Levesque, were featured, with gold tablecloths and matching napkins. Toastmaster was Bob Levesque Jr.
Mr. Levesque and the former Pauline Brosseau were married Sept. 1, 1958, at the Church of St. Ignatious in Sanford.
Their children are Debra Sparks and husband, Tom, of Rumford, Robert Levesque and wife, Wendy, of Turner, Randy Levesque of Lewiston, and Raymond Levesque and wife, Cindy, of Mechanic Falls.
Their grandchildren are Christopher, Robert and Justin Sparks of Rumford, Kevin and Jessica Levesque of Turner, Amanda Levesque of Lewiston and Bethany and Joey Levesque of Mechanic Falls.
Mrs. Levesque is the daughter of Paul and Diane Brosseau of Sanford. She graduated from Sanford High School and moved to Lewiston with her husband and family in 1965. She ran the cafeteria at Pioneer Plastics Inc. for 10 years and then went to work at Sears, from which she retired 20 years later. She operated Pollyanna’s Catering with her husband and family for 14 years. She enjoys spending time with her eight grandchildren.
Mr. Levesque is the son of Alfred and Geraldine Levesque of Sanford. He graduated from Sanford High School and entered the U.S. Navy and was enlisted for five years. He went to work for Pioneer Plastics Inc. in Sanford. He moved to Lewiston with Pioneer and worked a total of 27 years, leaving as a corporate project manager. He and his wife started Pollyanna’s Catering in 1981 and ran it for 14 years. He enjoys gardening and is very active in the Franco-American War Veterans, Post 31.
Original wedding attendants present were Jeanne (Brosseau) Merryfield of Sanford, Linda (Levesque) France of Acton, Dick Levesque of Springvale, and Pat (Levesque) Morin of Sun City, Ariz., had visited several weeks prior.
The couple drove to the party in a 1955 Chevy. The party was catered by their children, who all had worked catering with them. Robert Washington, a local Elvis Presley impersonator, entertained at the party. A video presentation of family photos was played for the couple and guests. The couple renewed their vows in front of the attendees.
