FALMOUTH – Robbie Leeman netted a goal and added three assists, Ben Wigant had a goal and a pair of helpers, and Sam Cloutier, Zac Racine and Ben McDonough all scored to lead Lewiston to a 5-0 win over Falmouth in a matchup of top Class A teams Monday.
Cam Poussard stopped all 32 shots he faced from the Yachtsmen (3-2-0) to post another shutout. In each of the Blue Devils’ (4-1-1) four wins, the team has not allowed a goal.
Scott Ouellette and Devin McLellan added assists for Lewiston. Jay Hurdman suffered the loss for Falmouth, which was coming off a big win over Thornton Academy.
Fryeburg/Lake Region 4 Poland/G-NG 2
BRIDGTON – Senior defenseman Cody Leland scored a pair of goals to lead Fryeburg/Lake Region to a 4-2 victory over Poland/Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ ice hockey action Monday evening.
The Ice Cats (4-3) took control of the game from the second period on and spent most of their time in the defenders’ zone.
Seth Champagne assisted on each of Kolby Arnold and Chris Lessard’s goals for the Patriotic Knights (5-2).
Skowhegan 7, Oak Hill/Lisbon 2
AUBURN – Nate Powers scored a pair of goals and an assist to power Skowhegan to a 7-2 victory over Oak Hill/Lisbon in boys’ ice hockey action Monday evening.
Senior right-wing Ben Check-Reny netted a goal and recorded an assist for the Barracudas (0-5). And, Dylan McGuire played a hard-fought game on defense for the Oak Hill/Lisbon squad.
The Indians (1-4-1) collected three goals in each of the first and third periods.
Boys’ basketball
Mt. Abram 78, Carrabec 72
SALEM – Senior guard Sam Simpson compiled a game-high 36 points and 12 rebounds to lead Mt. Abram to a 78-72 victory over Carrabec in double overtime in MVC boys’ basketball action Monday.
The Roadrunners (2-6) trailed by six at the half and five after three quarters, but bounced back in the fourth frame to force overtime.
Junior guard Jim Barker drained 20 points, while senior center Corey Tripp notched a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds for Mt. Abram.
The Cobras finally ran out of venom in the second overtime as Mt. Abram made several crucial free throws to pull away.
Aaron Lane recorded a team-high 26 points, and guard R.J. Pinkham added 19 points for Carrabec.
Traip 59, St. Dom’s 41
KITTERY – Brennen Connor drained a game-high 20 points to lead Traip in a 59-41 WMC victory over St. Dom’s on Monday.
The Rangers jumped out to a 23-10 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Greg Labonte paced the Saints (3-4) with 16 points and Aaron Allen registered a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Matt May and Eric Modica each scored 10 points for the Rangers (6-0).
Girls’ basketball
Georges Valley 39, Lisbon 37
THOMASTON – Bethany Shaw notched a fast break layup with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to lift Georges Valley to a 39-37 victory over Lisbon in MVC girls’ basketball action Monday.
The Greyhounds (5-3) led by two at the half, but the Buccaneers (5-3) executed a couple of key field goals in the final minutes of the contest to come away with the win.
Junior guard Katlyn Rich tossed a 3-pointer with 1:38 remaining to put the Buccaneers up by two, and Lisbon responded with a game-tying basket before Shaw’s tally.
Junior Renee Moore scored a game-high 14 points for Lisbon.
St. Dom’s 56, Traip 37
AUBURN – Sophomore center Allaina Murphy had a superb outing with 25 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 56-37 triumph over Traip Academy in WMC girls’ basketball action Monday.
The Saints (3-4) led 26-16 at the half and applied a strong man-to-man defense throughout. Senior point guard Mary Lewis contributed 17 points for St. Dom’s.
Forward Sebrina Lorrie notched a team-high 11 points for the Rangers (4-1).
Girls’ hockey
Lewiston 12, Brunswick 0
BRUNSWICK – Junior forward Mariah Conway erupted for four goals and an assist as Lewiston blanked Brunswick 12-0 on Monday.
Sara Marden, who began the scoring frenzy 87 seconds into the game, registered a hat trick while Michelle Rancourt, Ashley Chase and Katie Cobb each registered a goal and two assists.
Marisa Zamrock, and Allison Lafreniere also lit the lamp for the Devils.
Sophomore netminder Sarah Turner earned the shutout as the Devils improved to 9-0 on the season.
St. Dom’s 5, Winthrop/Maranacook 1
KENTS HILL – Sophomore defenseman Sophia Goulet scored a pair of goals to lead St. Dom’s in a 5-1 decision over Winthrop Maranacook in girl’s ice hockey action Monday evening.
Sandy Leimbach notched a goal at the 2:51 mark of the third period for Winthrop/Maranacook to spoil St. Dom’s shutout.
Alley Desjardins and Anna Desjardins each scored for the Saints (5-5).
