CHESHIRE, Conn. (AP) – Connecticut state police are investigating how prescription pills got into pieces of cake served to residents at a home for disabled people in Cheshire.
An employee who baked the cake at home told police she accidentally spilled her medication into the batter, but thought she had retrieved all of the pills before baking and serving the cake.
State police were called Sunday by another employee at the home who noticed the small pills in the cake as residents were eating it. The residents and employee were evaluated at local hospitals, but did not suffer any ill effects.
No arrests had been made as of Monday. Police did not specify what kind of medication was in the prescription pills.
