Painless savings
For those directed to take daily doses of naproxen sodium – brand name Alleve – buying a generic version of this popular over-the-counter painkiller is a real savings.
Alleve users are typically directed to take two pills in the morning and again in the evening, or 724 pills over a six-month span. It would cost $62.26 to take the brand name over that time, at $17.19 per 200-count bottle. The cost of the generic version available at Kmart is $9.49 for a 200-count bottle, or 4.7 cents per pill for a total cost of $34.02 for six months.
The savings to use generic naproxen sodium instead of Alleve is $28.24 over six months.
