AUBURN – A Lewiston man could face up to life in prison in connection with sexual assaults against a boy younger than 14. He pleaded not guilty Friday to four counts of gross sexual assault.
John P. Veilleux, 35, of 60 Albert St. also pleaded not guilty in Androscoggin County Superior Court to four counts of unlawful sexual contact, four counts of sexual misconduct with a child and four counts of visual sexual aggression linked to the same four incidents.
He also pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic violence assault.
The alleged sexual crimes stem from incidents on Sept. 1, Nov. 15., Nov. 29 and Dec. 13, 2008, court records show.
In each case, Veilleux was indicted by an Androscoggin County grand jury as a “repeat sexual offender,” a designation defined under state law as punishable by unlimited sentence for prison and probation.
He was convicted in Androscoggin County Superior Court of gross sexual assault on Nov. 1, 2001.
Veilleux appeared in court Friday, dressed in a blue jail suit, his legs shackled. He was held on $25,000 cash bail and $50,000 worth of property.
A judge said Veilleux must have no contact with the victim or anyone under age 18 if he is able to post bail.
