EDDINGTON (AP) – Authorities say a 46-year-old Eddington woman lost her life when struck by a pickup truck with an attached plow when she crossed Route 9 to retrieve her mail.

Maureen Waltz was the third pedestrian killed by a vehicle in Penobscot County within the past three weeks.

Deputy Chief Troy Morton of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department said Waltz died instantly Sunday night. No charges were filed aainst the driver, who told police he did not see Waltz.

A 90-year-old woman, Beulah Ireland of Lincoln, was struck and killed by a logging truck while heading out to get her mail on Dec. 29.

Billie Jean Davis of Bangor, who was 38, died on Jan. 2, a week after she was injured when she stepped into the path of a pickup truck with an attached plow.
