PORTLAND (AP) – Portland International Jetport officials are reporting record passenger figures for the month of December.

The number of passengers grew 6.8 percent to 115,786 in December, reversing three months of declines. The year-end figures were a record as well with 1.76 million passengers passing through the state’s busiest airport in 2008.

The figures came out Monday as airport officials provided details of the first international flights in eight years.

On Feb. 9, Starlink Aviation of Montreal will begin providing twice-daily round-trip flights connecting Portland with Halifax and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Portland officials say Starlink fly 18-seat Jetstream 31 airplanes.
