I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year. The past year has held many events that we wish not to recall and other events that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. As every year, there is good and bad. Let us strive for the good and do the best that is within our capabilities this coming New Year 2009.

I trust that most of you have met our new Chamber Administrator, Cherri Crockett. Cherri is such a valuable asset to us; she is the driving force of our Chamber and has really grabbed the “nuts and bolts” of the operation. She is doing a great job and if you haven’t met her, you will have that opportunity at our Chamber Open House on January 13th.

On a personal side, I feel compelled to submit my resignation as President of the Chamber and from the Board of Directors. For some time, I have been dealing with the residual effects of exposure to Agent Orange stemming from my service in Vietnam. I have found it difficult to successfully carry out the responsibilities that come with being the President of the Chamber. I have to make some changes in what I do and curtailing many of my activities is part and parcel of it. I regret that this has to come at a time when much change has taken place in the Chamber, but I have to take care of my health problems.

I thank everyone for the confidence that was placed in me to become the President and regret that I am forced by health problems to make this decision. I wish the Chamber and the Directors all the best as they continue to serve in the best interests of our members.

Wishing you all a Happy and Blessed New Year,

Joseph F. Roberts
