An off-duty Auburn police officer, called in Tuesday evening for the use of his snowmobile to transport emergency personnel, gets directions from an Auburn firefighter on the location of a fatal accident off Hersey Hill Road in Auburn.
A self-employed logger working across from 282 Hersey Hill Road was killed by a falling tree, according to Deputy Chief Jason Moen of the Auburn Police Department. Auburn and Minot rescue crews were on the scene at 5:59 p.m. and assessed the quickest route to reach the 59-year-old man, whose identity was being withheld until his family was notified, Moen said in a statement. Auburn police Sgt. Rick Coron is on the back of the sled.
