Dear Sun Spots: On Wednesday, Dec. 31, you had a picture of the Moon Dawgs, but no names were printed. We remember a couple of them, have forgotten the others. Please also mention the instruments they each played. They were super. Thank you. – L.G., No Town.

Answer: The photo you are referring to appeared on page A5 on the New Year’s Eve edition and accompanied a story by Larry Grard of the Central Maine Morning Sentinel. Bob Roy, an original member of the Moon Dawgs, was more than happy to identify members in the photo.

In the back, on keyboards, is Roger Michaud. The man playing the tambourine, who also played the saxophone, is Bert Berube. Bob Poulin is pictured as the bass player and Dave Brisette is on lead guitar. Roy is the drummer.

Roy notes that the Moon Dawgs still play on occasion, but have regrouped with a few different members. Today, band members are Roger Michaud, keyboards; Dave Brisette, lead guitar; Marty Lang, rhythm and lead guitar; Bob Poulin, bass guitar; Roger Renaud, saxophone; and Roy, drums.

Dear Sun Spots: We would like to express our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to all those folks who read and responded to our request for help with backpacks to assist Lewiston High School students experiencing homeless situations. The response received from many within our community, and beyond, was touching and so very welcomed. The giving from generous folks was not limited to backpacks alone. Thank you, thank you all for your kind thoughtfulness. As a result of your generosity, we have enough backpacks to help any Lewiston High School student experiencing a homeless situation, for the rest of the school year! – Mary Seaman, homeless liaison, and Cynthia Taylor, Lewiston.
