PALM HARBOR, Fla. – Irene Fritz, née Lagueux, lived 100 years and a full life from June 29, 1908, to Dec. 5, 2008. She died in Palm Harbor, Fla.

Irene Lagueux was born in Lewiston, the daughter of Treflé and Marie-Blanche (Marquis) Lagueux. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1926.

She was employed in the executive department – state of Maine – working for five Republican governors beginning in the 1940s. Music played an important role throughout her life and she had many opportunities to share her voice and piano talents.

In 1950, she was the featured soprano soloist in the Bowdoin College Glee Club presentation of Handel’s “Messiah.”

She is survived by one nephew, Raymond, and his wife, Susan Lagueux, of Lewiston; one niece, Theresa (Mrs. Paul) Lagueux; as well as several grandnieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Viateur (Vic) Lagueux of Lewiston and Tarpon Springs; her nephew, Paul Lagueux of Annandale, Va.; and her three husbands, Paul Woodworth, Chester Winslow and Morris Fritz.
