MOUNT DESERT (AP) – A fire has destroyed a seasonal restaurant on Main Street in Northeast Harbor.

No one was injured in the Friday night blaze at the Tan Turtle Restaurant, which was closed for the winter. It was the second major fire in six months in the downtown section of the village on Mount Desert Island.

Also destroyed in the latest fire was an upstairs apartment, where building owner Rob DeGennaro lives during the summer. The owner, who was contacted in Florida, said the structure is insured and he hopes to rebuild.

The Tan Turtle Restaurant is just a few doors down from where a predawn explosion and fire last July destroyed three other buildings.
