PORTLAND (AP) – A Cumberland County sheriff’s deputy who allegedly drove in the wrong direction on Interstate 295 faces charges of operating under the influence and driving to endanger.
Charles Ryder of Falmouth was arrested Thursday night in Portland after state police received several calls about a sport utility vehicle traveling south in the northbound lanes between Falmouth and Portland.
The 36-year-old Ryder was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where he works as a sergeant in the corrections division. He has been released on bail and his court date is not expected before March.
