LEWISTON – Brian Ellis scored 21 points and Chris Wilson added 13 as the pair combined to go 15-of-22 from the field, leading Bates to a 62-44 win over Maine-Farmington.

Nick Schmiemann added 10 points and a career-high eight boards for the Bobcats (10-8), and Auburn’s Kyle Philbrook added four points, five rebounds and three assists in one of his most productive outings this season.

CMCC 89, EMCC 72

AUBURN – Tyler Smithgall led all players with 19 points, 14 rebounds and seven steals as Central Maine Community College upended Eastern Maine Community College 89-72 in a Yankee Conference tilt at Kirk Hall Gymnasium on Tuesday.

The Mustangs (15-3) out hustled the Golden Eagles (2-11) from the opening tip, forced 22 turnovers and built a 49-36 advantage at the break.

Cam Angell hit four treys for 12 points while Matt Sceviour, Farrell Jean-Gilles and Nate Damm each scored nine and Brennen Morton added eight, including a pair of 3-pointers. Matt Lyons grabbed 10 rebounds and Sceviour tallied five assists.

Brandon Tomah led the Golden Eagles with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Women’s basketball

CMCC 81, EMCC 54

AUBURN – Teira Durgin’s 13 points led five players in double figures as Central Maine CC rolled over Eastern Maine CC 81-54 in a Yankee Conference matchup.

Leading by 12 at the half, the Mustangs (13-5) went on a 9-2 run to put the game out of reach. The Mustangs forced 21 turnovers and kept the Golden Eagles (2-8) guessing with a variety of pressure defenses led by Durgin and Kayla Ellis.

Michelle Holmquist and Sara Martin each registered 12 points, Danielle Hebert scored 11 and Britney Salley added 10 for the Mustangs.

Nikki Kaulback led the Golden Eagles with 17 points while Jessica Brown added 14.
