THOMASTON – Junior guard Chandler White pounded out 21 points to lead Livermore Falls to an 80-34 victory over Georges Valley in MVC boys’ basketball action Tuesday.
The Andies (7-8) jumped out to a 24-14 first quarter lead. Derek Castonguay notched 12 points and nine rebounds, while Ryan Ames and Nate Michaud posted 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Alex Grierson scored a team-high 13 points for Georges Valley.
Buckfield 45, Rangeley 44
RANGELEY – Norman Jack sank a free throw with 1.2 seconds to play to give Buckfield a 45-44 victory over Rangeley.
After trailing 28-22 at halftime, the Bucks (6-9) turned it around in the third quarter and entered the final stanza with a 37-33 advantage.
Tyler Weymouth led Buckfield with a game-high 18 points. Luk Elliott led the Lakers (4-11) with 14 points and Quinn Philbrick hit for 13.
Brunswick 62, Lewiston 46
LEWISTON – Brunswick exploded for 23 points in the fourth quarter to come away with a 62-46 win over Lewiston.
Rashon Edgerton led the Dragons (9-7) with 20 points, half of which came in the final frame. Lucas Klein chipped in with 19 points in a well-balanced attack.
Ronnie Turner paced the Blue Devils (2-13) with a game-high 20 points, while Omar Mohamud tallied seven and Mekae Hyde added six. Brunswick’s lead was down to three points entering the fourth quarter.
Monmouth 65, Lisbon 52
MONMOUTH – Ryan Baillargeon scored 13 points to help Monmouth win its second game of the season, a 65-52 triumph over Lisbon.
After taking a 13-11 advantage after one quarter, Monmouth used a 20-11 run in the second quarter to widen its lead on the Greyhounds.
Tim Whitmore added 12 points and Seth Musich added 10 for the Mustangs (2-12). Nick Jones scored 21 points for Lisbon.
OOB 61, Poland 44
OLD ORCHARD BEACH – Senior guard Matt Regan tossed in 15 points as Old Orchard Beach sailed to a 61-44 victory over Poland.
The Seagulls turned up the heat in the second and fourth quarters to account for the 17-point difference at the final buzzer.
Senior guard Casey Ray and sophomore guard Jonah Farrington recorded 10 points each for the Knights (3-12).
Gray-NG 61, Fryeburg 50
GRAY – Junior center Taylor Valente scored 16 points as Gray-New Gloucester grabbed a 61-50 victory over Fryeburg.
The Patriots (6-9) leapfrogged over the Raiders’ (6-9) opening field goal and never trailed again. Evan Kenney contributed 11 points, while Orrin Googins posted 10 points for Gray-New Gloucester.
David Smith scored 13 points for Fryeburg, while Ronny Coury added another 11.
Madison 55, Jay 36
JAY – Simon Elias turned in a triple double, scoring 16 points, pulling down 10 rebounds and blocking 13 shots, in Madison’s 55-36 victory over Jay in a boys’ basketball game Tuesday.
The Bulldogs (9-5) held the Tigers (6-8) to single-digit scoring in the second and final quarters. Madison’s Ezra Gourley scored 16 points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
For the Tigers, Kyle Storer scored eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
Waterville 58, Oak Hill 41
WATERVILLE – Nate Therriault ignited an 18-11 run in the third quarter as Waterville hustled to a 58-41 win over Oak Hill on Tuesday.
Therriault led the Panthers (6-9) with 14 points, seven of which came in that third frame. Isaac Webb chipped in for Waterville with 13 points, while J.D. Gurski added 10.
Sean Grenier led the Raiders (1-15) with an 11-point effort. Kyle Rines added seven.
Waynflete 69, St. Dom’s 61
AUBURN – Waynflete used a 25-12 run in the third frame to gain control and come away with a 69-61 win over St. Dom’s.
John Nalia scored 19 of his 28 points in the second half to lead Waynflete’s well-balanced attack. Hassan Jayalani chipped in for the Flyers (5-10) with 20 points, the only other player in double figures.
St. Dom’s (8-8) was paced by D.J. St. Pierre with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Greg LaBonte chipped in with 14 points, while Peter Keaney added 12.
Mt. Ararat 64, Leavitt 50
TOPSHAM – Cam Vermette tickled the twines with 28 points as Mt. Ararat soared to a 64-50 triumph over Leavitt.
Josh Walker provided 17 points towards the Eagles’ (9-6) offensive effort.
Zach Caldwell scored 14 points, while Jordan Hersom added another 11 points for the Hornets (3-12).
