Voters in Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland on Tuesday elected newly created Regional School Unit 16’s first board of directors.
Each town elected five representatives to the board.
With 36 voters casting ballots, Mechanic Falls residents elected Carlton Beckett, Katie Bryant, Dave Griffiths, Melissa Hodgkin and Jacques Wiseman.
In Minot, 31 turned out to elect Steve Holbrook, Tina Kelly, Yvette Murray and Chris Woodford, whose names appeared on the ballot; write-in candidate Annette Annance received five official write-in votes to fill Minot’s fifth spot on the board. Many write-in votes were rejected because voters failed to include the municipality.
Poland had the largest turnout, with 62 casting ballots. The winners were Norman E. Davis, Mary Ella Jones, Jeanne Manley, Scott K. Sawyer and Martha E. Stone.
