RUMFORD – Edward (Ted) Fournier died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 27, at his home.

Ted was born March 5, 1925, in Mexico. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother.

He loved to spend his time fishing, traveling and tinkering around the house. He was a World War II veteran serving in Battery A 734th Anti-aircraft artillery gun battalion. He was married to Madeline Benedix on July 30, 1949. Together, they had five children. He retired from the Maine DOT in 1987.

He leaves behind his wife, Maddy; daughters and spouses, Susan and Maurice Tarr of South Carolina, Karen and Rick Eichler of New Hampshire, and Sally and Tim Roy of Mexico; a son, Timothy and Monique Fournier of Rumford; his grandchildren, Rick and Tracy Dustin-Eichler, Elizabeth Eichler, Chris and Jody Tarr, Matthew and Katie Tarr, Michael Tarr, Heidi and Allison Roy and Timothy James and Alyssa Fournier; great-grandchild, Christian Tarr; many nieces and nephews; a brother, Aime Fournier; and sister, Gloria Collette.

He’ll be joining his son, David, in Heaven.
