Thomas J. Evans has been promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force.

The sergeant, a crew chief with five years of military service, is assigned to the 305th Air Mobility Wing, McGuire Air Force Base, Trenton, N.J.

He is the son of Maria and Robert Evans of South Casco. His wife, Miranda, is the daughter of Tina Hutchinson of Bridgton.

Evans graduated in 2001 from Lake Region High School, Naples. In 2003, he received an associate degree from Southern Maine Community College, South Portland, and additional associate degree in 2007 from Community College of the Air Force, N.J.
