AUBURN – Arthur J. Fouquette, 81, of The Meadows in Greene, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, after a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston, on June 18, 1927, the son of Arthur C. and Antoinette Belleville Fouquette. Educated locally, he joined the U.S. Army in 1945 and served in Europe until his honorable discharge in 1949.

On Sept. 8, 1983, he married the former Georgette Theresa Dube of Lewiston, and they made their home in Litchfield. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as a machinist for Gray & Prior Machine Co. of Bloomfield, Conn.

A member of American Legion Post 135, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cribbage with his brothers and playing with his grandchildren.

Besides his loving wife of Greene, survivors include two sons, Charles Fouquette of Bristol, Conn., and David and wife, Kristen Hanlon, of Litchfield, five daughters, Linda Fouquette of Alpine, Texas, Cheryl and husband, Joseph Berube, of Manchester, Cynthia and husband, James Staples, of College Station, Texas, Christine and husband, Henry Letourneau, of Litchfield and Lori and husband, Gerald Leet, of Litchfield; a brother, Normand and wife, Lorraine Fouquette of Windsor Locks, Conn.; a sister, Constance Boulanger of Chaparral, N.M.; 10 grandchildren, Pam, Jim, Alison, J.B., Randy, Heather, Amanda, Dallas, Emma and Davey; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Nelson, Richard and Roger; and three sisters, Joline Bolduc, Marilise Beaudoin and Laurette Rioux.
