AUBURN – Germaine A. Bechard, 83, formerly of Lake Street Towers died Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Sarah Frye Home after a period of failing health.

She was born in Lewiston, on Jan. 25, 1926, the daughter of the late George and Bernadette (Jacques) Poisson. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 1945.

She worked in the local shoe and textile industries. Prior to her retirement in 1991, she worked for Sam’s Italian Bakery for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Parish and was an avid photography enthusiast.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Marcel (Claire) Therriault of Lisbon, Mrs. Richard (Muriel) Asselin of Florida, and Mrs. Gerry (Doris) Forgues of Turner; two sons, Herve Bechard of Florida, and Roland Bechard of Perry; three brothers, Ovide, Gerard and Mozart Poisson; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Bernadette Bolduc; and a brother, Richard Poisson.
