Seniors trips

LEWISTON – Day trips sponsored by the Meadowview Seniors have been announced, escorted by Bert Dutil:

Wednesday, April 8, Cloutier’s Sugar House in Lac Megantic, Canada; price includes bus and meal.

Friday May 15, Hollywood Slots in Bangor; price includes bus and meal ticket.

Trips sponsored by the Lewiston Seniors, escorted by Dutil, are:

May 1 to 8, cruise to Bermuda, leaving from Boston. Price includes bus to Boston, all meals, entertainment and cabin.

Three-day trip to Nova Scotia for the International Military Tattoo. Price includes bus, the CAT from Portland, sightseeing, hotel and show ticket.

Honor society

PORTLAND – Several Cheverus High School students have been inducted in the National Honor Society.

The society is a national organization established to recognize outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character.

The following local students have been admitted to the National Honor Society:

Juniors Margaret Corrigan of New Gloucester, Mark Dumond of Bowdoinham, Ashley Giddinge of Gray, Kellie Keneagy of New Gloucester and Anna Snook of Auburn.

Lenten program

AUBURN – The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, which consists of St. Louis, Sacred Heart and St. Philip Churches, invites the community to join in a Lenten evangelization program called Disciples in Mission.

The program involves small, faith-sharing groups for adults, teens, families and seniors. Groups focus on scripture readings and discussion of program themes. Different group meeting times and locations are available. For more information call the parish office at 782-8096.

Bridge play

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Feb. 2 were as follows: first, Nancy Glusker and Sue Kaluzynski; second, Nancy Lindgren and Pete Cummings; third Roger Labbe and Larry Fortier; fourth, Mary Leahey and Marta Clements.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays a the Multi-Purpose Center and at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays Schooner Estates in Auburn.
