LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon program series at USM/Lewiston-Auburn on Friday, Feb. 13, will feature a presentation by Lincoln F. Ladd on the importance of reading.
Ladd earned a bachelor of arts at Brown University and did graduate work at the University of Virginia and Duke University. He taught English at North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro until he moved to Maine in 1976.
The first team leader of the English and foreign language departments at Maranacook Community School, Ladd led a “great works” seminar at UMA and taught at UMF for three years. He is a trustee-emeritus at Bates College and Maine Public Broadcasting Network and he has taught courses at the Senior College at UMA and USM/L-A for the past four years. He serves on the Senior College boards at both schools.
The program will be held at noon in Function Room 170 at USM/L-A. The cost, which includes lunch, is $7 with advance reservation or $8 at the door, opening at 11:30 a.m.
Reservations must be made no later than noon Thursday, Feb. 12, by phone at 753-6510. Any late callers will be considered as “at the door.”
