LEWISTON – Lorette B. Toussaint, 95, of 4 Ridge Road, Lewiston, died Monday, Feb. 2, at her son’s home with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 27, 1913, the daughter of F.X. and Emelia (Moreau) Bilodeau. She was educated at St. Peter’s School in Lewiston and also the Good Shepherd School in Biddeford and later graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Jackman.

On Aug. 30, 1947, she married Raoul E. Toussaint. He died Jan. 15, 1991. She taught at Holy Asylum for boys, owned and ran a deli-luncheon in downtown Lewiston and worked at Clark Shoe Co. in Auburn.

She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Society and AARP. Among her interests were crocheting, sewing, ceramics, a large variety of crafts, cooking and especially fudge making. Her greatest pleasure in life however was the time she spent with her loving family.

She loved everyone she met and had an extensive correspondence list. Even at 95 years of age, her letters were filled with interesting news written in perfect Palmer penmanship. Remembering everybody’s birthday was always one of her top priorities. She remained young at heart, and enjoyed joining in all family activities at her summer place in East Harpswell as well as during her Florida winters. Whether playing cards or bocce, she was a fierce competitor and usually won.

She is survived by her two sons, Edward F. and wife, Susan Hebert Toussaint, of Lewiston and Donald A. and wife, Marita Fournier Toussaint, of Sanibel Island Fla.; her six grandchildren, Eric Toussaint of Salem, N.H., Brian Toussaint of Lewiston, Lisa, David, Melissa Toussaint and Amy Morse, all of Auburn; her nine great-grandchildren, Noah and Gavin Toussaint, Dawson and Caroline Tracey, Alice and Marie Pittman, Wyatt and Tate Morse and Gianna Boulet; a sister, Marie R. Condon; a sister-in-law, Yolande Bilodeau; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Dominique and 2nd Lt. Rosaire Bilodeau; and three sisters, Emilia Doyon, Marguerite Bilodeau and Sister Gaetane (Rose Marguerite) S.J.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Bobbi Jo and Stephanie at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for all the wonderful care administered to Lorette.
