Mutual aide agreements

Issue: Agreements for mutual aide with surrounding towns to combat fires and respond to other emergencies.

The scoop: The board reviewed three mutual aide agreements between the town of Turner and Leeds, Greene and Wales. Signing updated agreements will help with obtaining grant funding for needed equipment.

Up next: The board signed the three agreements, continuing mutual aide between the four towns.

Mid Maine Waste Action Corp. contracts

Issue: Contract for disposal of solid waste by MMWAC was up for renewal.

The scoop: The board reviewed three options for the contract with MMWAC, the first for three years, the second for five years with a consumer price index of 2 percent minimum and 4 percent increase during that time, and the third option was for a 10-year contract.

Up next: The board chose to sign a three-year service agreement for $76.50 per ton with a CPI capped at 4 percent in years two and three.

Highway equipment reserve

Issue: Releasing town reserve funds for use in replacing and acquiring needed equipment.

The scoop: The board discussed the need for the release of funds; the public works foreman and road committee members will shop around and make decisions on the items to be purchased, new or used.

Up next: Town reserve funds of $75,000 have been released for the purchase of a ton pickup truck, pavers and roller.
